NTUCFairPriceCo-Operative(Chinese:新加坡职工总会平价合作社)isasupermarketchainbasedinSingaporeandthelargestinthecountry.Thecompanyisaco-operativeoftheNationalTradesUnionCongressorNTUC.Thegrouphas100supermarketsacrosstheisland,withover50outletsofCheersconveniencestoresisland-wide.NTUCFairPricehaspartneredwithExxonMobiltorunseveralstationswithaFairPricebrandingattheminimartsattheirstations.ThesupermarkethasasloganknownasSingapore'sveryown.TheheadofthecompanyisNgSerMiang.

History

AnEssopetrolstationrunbyNTUCFairPrice.ItisoperatedbythecompanywithaFairPriceXpressstore,thestationwasthefirsttobeconvertedtothenewformat.

InMay1983,duetocompetition,NTUCWelcomeandSECmergedtoformalargerco-operativewhichwasknownasNTUCFairPriceCo-OperativeLimited.

Thecompanystartedacentral-distributionsystemtochangethewaygoodsweredeliveredtostores,toenhanceefficiency.Thiswasownedbyanothercompany,butin1998,FairPricetookfullownershipofthewarehouseanddistributioncompany.ItwasrenamedGroceryLogisticsofSingapore(GLS).In2003,FairPriceopenedanew13,000-square-metreFreshFoodDistributionCentre.Therefrigerated-distributionfacilitycentralisesthedistributionsoffreshandchilledproductstoalltheoutletsinthechain.ItisthefirstsupermarketretailerinSingaporetobuild,ownandoperateitsownfresh-fooddistributioncentre.

Thatsameyear,FairPricetiedupwithoilcompanyExxonMobiltoopenFairPriceExpressandCheersconvenienceoutletsatsevenEssoandMobilstationsasapilotproject.ThestationwillberunbyNTUCFairPriceCo-operative,whichsetsthefuelpricesandrunthestation'sminimart.ExxonMobilwillsupplythefuel,andwillsellitsoilproductsinsidetheFairPrice-runstations.Ifthispilotprojectprovessuccessful,allstationswillbeconvertedtoeitherFairPriceExpressorCheerswiththeco-operativetakingoverthemanagementofeachstation.ExxonMobilalsoannouncedthatallthestationswillberenamed"Esso"byyear-end.[1]
